Portrait Editing Project!

1. Split Faces/Famous Couples

Alrighty then, time to get weird. With all of the good work we've done with portraits and faces, let's put our editing skills to the absolute profile/portrait/personality test!

Start with a "famous couple". Whether in history (King Richard the 8th and pick a wife, any wife), the movies (Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, the Notebook) or Celebrities/Politicians (Brad and Angie, Prince Edwards and Kate) our goal is to find a couple that we can then merge their faces.

Let's start by finding the images of the duo and making a new file at 180 PPI, and a height and width of 8x10" whatever way you deem necessary. Do your FIVE edits you do to every image and then immediately right click on the layer and duplicate it. From there you will use your layers and erasers, blur tool, clone stamp, spot-healing, patch tool, etc. etc. to "combine" the faces.

2. Two Faces, One Head

Weird? Yeah, but this is a studio art class and this collage effect has been used in movie posters, graphic design, digital art, etc. and is a worthwhile one to explore.

Let's start by finding an image of a person (Celebrity, Social Media, you, etc...school appropriate) and making a new file at 180 PPI, and a height and width of 8x10" whatever way you deem necessary. Do your FIVE edits you do to every image and then immediately right click on the layer and duplicate it. From there....

Camera Shoot #1

Landscapes - 5 Best of Versions, 5 Altered Landscapes

You have 10 Total images due for your next project. You will need to have 5 landscapes: An original version and one altered version of each. The amount and type of alteration is up to you, we will review the images on the computers, so there is no need to print out your images.

Remember our discussions about landscapes, use your editing tools as necessary and have fun!

Best of Version:

FIVE THINGS TO DO TO EVERY, EVERY, EVERY PHOTOGRAPH/IMAGE

There are FIVE steps that we can do to EVERY image to get the "Best Of" version. Whether you edit it beyond these five steps is up to you, but these are the minimum steps we want to do to every image. So without further ado:

1. Resize
2. Unsharp Mask
3. Brightness/Contrast
4. Hue/Saturation
5. Evaluate

We will do this steps from now until the end of the tri to every image. What you do beyond that will be up to you, the parameters of the assignments, and your knowledge of the software.

Alternative Landscapes

Continue with the Basics of Photoshop and editing.

SLR's, Camera Types, Research, Saving, Transferring,

and Project #1

Let's start with some research -

What is an SLR camera?

How much do the cost (range from low to high)?

Use Photoshop and Google for your research! Compare and contrast three SLR's and compile them into a collage with the main features, prices and drawbacks of all three.

And now... Shooting assignment #1 Landscapes!

You have 10 images due for your next project. You will need to have 5 landscapes: 1 original version and one altered version. The amount and type of alteration is up to you, we will review the images on the computers so no need to print out your images.

Remember our discussions about landscapes, use your editing tools as necessary and have fun!

- FIVE STEPS WE DO TO EVERY, EVERY, EVERY IMAGE!

There are FIVE steps that we can do to EVERY image to get the "Best Of" version. Whether you edit it beyond these five steps is up to you, but these are the minimum steps we want to do to every image. So without further ado:

2. An altered self image using our image to alter the way we appear.

We will take our photos using PhotoBooth to work on in class. Tools that will be highly beneficial to you are the Clone stamp, Patch Tool, Lasso, etc. The Filter gallery is useful for altering effects as well.

Filter>Liquify- A whole new Gallery!

Parameters - Size: 8 x 10 inches, 180 ppi.
Minimum of 4 layers
Create and/or alter the background.
Remember composition! Making an interesting image -
You might think about the Rule of thirds, separating or altering the image
to show movement or emphasis...
Turn in an altered, crisp, clean image with an overall color-scheme or
cohesion, seamlessly integrated objects, high-res image saved as
a JPEG and dropped into D Chandler's Hand-In Folder.

Optional

- Time-permitting, do more than one alteration to see different ways to complete the assignment - A couple of extra points will be in it for you if you do!
